Rifraf Mixed Touch Team
Mixed Touch team who formed in 1992 under the name of "Kia Kaha" - we won the Premier Mixed division that year against a team called CDC Funtcases in a hard fought out 3 week finals format.
The following year "Kia Kaha" changed its name to "Rifraf" and have remained that name to date. Although Rifraf have had a few changes to their team, (Hemi Stirling, Tania Jacques & Leigh Andrews are the only originals) we have been finalists in the Pepsi division of the TGI Friday nite competition every year.
Long in the tooth, this year the Rifraf touch team were placed in the 7-Up division, (2nd division), although current leaders on the table - some of the players in the team would have preferred to be in the top division.
Rifraf Womens Team
This year the women of "Rifraf "decided to enter into a competition
in the Hutt Valley that would cater solely for themselves.
The competition played at Strand Park in the centre of Lower Hutt ideally
suited them, initially entering for fun and enjoyment - this quickly changed
as soon as the team became known as THE team to beat.
Current leaders of the womens grade, the games tend to get more intense as the weeks go by.
Younger members of our team include Demi Smith (10 years) and Nicole Hopkins (12 years) who, in a couple of years time I'm sure their experience in playing in a womens competition will pay off.
